Book Orders

Parents, welcome to the digital age!  You can order student textbooks online.  Go to www.classbook.com.  There, you will be guided through creating an account - the first step is to type in the school's zip code, 80487, and then your student's first and last name.  The list of required books will be generated for his/her classes.  Classbook.com is the industry standard for book ordering online. Your order information will be secure.

School Supplies

For the first day of classes, we recommend that students come prepared with a pen, a pencil, and a three-ring binder with paper in it.  During the first day of school, individual teachers will give students specific information regarding what they need for particular courses.  Because our teachers tend to be precise about how they want students to organize, and about specific supplies needed, we recommend that parents not buy supplies until students know exactly what they need for each of their classes.  We sell all supplies in our bookstore, and Steamboat has both Wal-Mart and Staples if you’d prefer to get your school supplies in town.

For those of you who do wish to buy at least some of your supplies in advance, here are some helpful tips:

Students in all math classes are required to use graph paper, as well as regular lined paper.  If you wish to purchase a pad of graph paper in advance, it will not go to waste.

Geometry students are required to have a good compass, a good straight-edge ruler, and a good protractor.  Parents may wish to purchase these in advance; we also sell a “geometry packet” in our bookstore.  Geometry students also keep a “Theorem Notebook” throughout the year.  They must use a spiral notebook for this purpose.

Algebra 1 and Geometry students are required to have a calculator.

Algebra 2 or above -- need a TI-83 calculator; parents may wish to purchase this calculator in advance.  There are generally reasonable prices online or in office supply stores (such as Staples).

Geography students use colored markers throughout the year.  We sell appropriate sets in our bookstore, or students may purchase colored markers in advance.  Be sure to have a minimum of ten colors in your set.

A.P. English students are required to keep a spiral notebook journal throughout the year.

All Students need pens and pencils, most use mechanical pencils with #2 lead for their math courses.  Many in freshman and sophomore courses use index cards (flash cards) for memory work.  Students can always use a set or two of dividers for their three-ring binder(s).
