...and to pursue responsible, creative lives

Amanda Timeoni, Class of 2003

Amanda TimeoniAmanda really grew during her years at LWS - she tells you more below about what it is like to be a snowboarder from Cleveland transplanted to Colorado!

“No one would ever guess that I originate from Cleveland. Being in California and Colorado for the past two years can really change a person. Very few Clevelanders get the opportunity to go to school and snowboard everyday in a great town like Steamboat. As one man told me on a plane once, ” You are among the elite few in Cleveland.”

Four years ago I would have never guessed that I would be a competitive snowboarder. Not too long ago I was your average public highschool teenager. Now I live a crazy life with obligations that seem to never end! This I consider to be a good thing however, it can be overwhelming at times. I love the west and plan to have it as my home in the near future, but Cleveland will always be my home. No where else can you experience the crazy Cleveland sports fans, the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame, or the largest rollar coaster is America!

Snowboarding and music are my life. Without them I would be lost! During the winter my time is spent everyday at the mountain. Snowboarding challenges me mentally and physically. Snowboarding has allowed me to find who I am. I have learned how couragious I can be and how far I will go in taking risks. Physically I have taken beatings but they were all part of progression. Frontside boardslides and backcountry kickers are among my favorite snowboarding activities. In the future I plan to represent women’s snowboarding to the fullest.

During the summer I can kick back and enjoy concerts in downtown Cleveland. Some of the concerts I love are Warp Tour, Ozzfest, and X-fest.

As a senior, I got to go on foreign trip here at LWS, and I LOVED it. I have really enjoyed my years here and I will especially miss the camp program!
