Activities
The purpose of the activities program is to offer group activities which involve physical challenge, lifelong skills and present physical and emotional outlets. Activities are required during the fall and winter seasons.
Activities are directed and guided by LWS faculty and staff who offer expertise in their assigned activity. Activities such as mountain biking, rock climbing, horseback riding, kayaking, and telemark, Nordic and alpine skiing are among the offerings.
Clubs
Clubs allow students to explore government, philanthropy, music, the arts, leadership and a full array of opportunities that lead to gaining new skills. Twenty-five club hours are required annually for all students. Club opportunities include: kayaking, student council, choral singing, El Pomar Youth in Community Service, drama, climbing, martial arts, cooking, crafts, photography, political science, recreational basketball and backcountry skills.
Community Service
Social and environmental responsibility instills in students a sense of integrity that results in choices and actions that have a positive effect on society and the environment. The School’s scheduled service days aid in the understanding of community needs and compassion for others, and help students develop habits that become a part of their everyday lives. All students participate in community service projects, school recycling and clean up days.
