Experiential Education
“Of all the things that might be true about experiential education, the one thing that is unassailably true is that you can’t understand it by defining it, you must do it.” — John Huie
The Lowell Whiteman School is committed to experiential education - enriching education with activities outside the classroom that allow for spontaneous learning and help develop a well-rounded individual. Programs throughout the year build character, agility, strength, and self-confidence that allow students to stretch themselves. Both current students and alumnae claim the “Whiteman experience” offers unique opportunities to explore the wilderness and the world, while sharing experiences that build lifelong relationships.
LWS Experiential Education includes the camp program, afternoon activities, clubs, community service, all levels and disciplines of competitive skiing and snowboarding, recreational skiing, numerous outdoor activities and adventures in the Rocky Mountains and the deserts and canyons of the southwest, and foreign travel. Full participation in each of these programs is an integral and required part of the School’s curriculum.
