Endowment Giving
Having completed more than $2.2 million in capital additions and improvements in the 1990’s, the school’s financial priorities shifted in 2002 to providing for a more secure long-term financial future. Thanks to tremendous commitments of time and leadership from trustees and other dedicated volunteers, and gracious financial contributions from a diverse representation of LWS constituents, the school successfully reached its goal in 2005 to establish a
million dollar Endowment. Gifts to the Endowment are invested for long-term appreciation under policies adopted by the Board of Trustees. Only a portion of the annual income earned is available to be spent in any given year, allowing the principle to grow over time. Gifts are “unrestricted” or designated to a particular fund or purpose. In 2002 Trustees identified four priority initiatives:
- Financial Aid/Scholarships
- Faculty Support and Professional Development
- Technology and Library Resources
- Intercultural/International Study
Endowment giving reflects an investment for the future and will help ensure that LWS continues to offer unique educational opportunities for youth.
