Faculty, Staff, and Students of LWS
2008 Winter Olympics
Special thanks to the LWS Student Leadership Council for planning and prepping for this event. Special thanks to Clare for building the trophy that will withstand time and to Eddie for bearing the weight of the trophy. Thanks to faculty and staff for judging events and to Kevan for filming the action. Maria, Cassady and Sophie played the tunes that motivated all the teams. The freshman toss will forever be known as the “Chuck” in honor of our own Charlie V-T. Tubes flew down the LWS ski hill and broomballs were let go! We won’t discuss the milk chug contest!
Spring Break
Classes end at 12:25 p.m. on Friday, March 28th. There will be a shuttle to Denver International Airport leaving campus at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29th. Parents should make individual transportation arrangements for their student to return to campus. REMEMBER, there will be NO SHUTTLE DURING INTERSESSION!!
Faculty/Staff Appreciation Dinner
Faculty, staff and parents enjoyed a wonderful evening hosted by the Southworth family. Lynn Newman and the LWS Parent Association were instrumental in putting the event together. Very special thanks to Vivianne Pommier for donating prizes for the event.

Congratulations to SSHS Track Team and our own Buddy Kinder. Buddy participated in the 800 meter race where his team of 4 placed first! In addition, Buddy’s team placed 6th in the 400 meter race. Buddy also had a personal best when he ran a 5.14 minute mile. Nice!
Jaquelyn Kinder, class of 2007, was named to the University Of Montana Dean’s list for first semester!
Our own Daniel Wright took first place in the 2nd Annual Steamboat Writing Contest sponsored by Epilogue Book Store. Daniel walked away with $100 for his story about a bridge in Venice and an Italian man convicted of a crime.
SUPPORTING LWS
The Lowell Whiteman School Annual Campaign is vital to the ongoing success of the LWS Experience. We’re getting closer every day to our goal of 100% parent participation in the Annual Campaign. As of March 21st, we’ve reached 72% PARTICIPATION! Thank you to all members of the LWS community who have already contributed. If you have not yet participated in this important campaign, please mail your gift today and help us reach the 100% participation goal by Spring Break. Every gift makes a difference!

Tennis Anyone? You might not want to play against LWS Junior, Shelby Reed. Shelby won a tough match against Vail’s senior player but pulled it out in the 3rd set!! The Steamboat Springs High School tennis team won the match 6-1!!!
