Experience Video:
Johnny Spillane, Class of 1999 -- Olympic Triple Silver Medalist in a 2010 Olympic Moment. "Lowell Whiteman School made it possible for me to do what I've done. If you get an opportunity to go to a school like this, take it! I recognized what I had here and it really made it possible for me to get where I am."

The following list and supporting pages will help you through the application process. Also, please consider a campus tour. Seeing our campus, visiting classes and meeting our faculty will help you get a feel for the school. Seeing our students and teachers in action isn’t something we can duplicate on a web site, and will help you make a decision as to whether Lowell Whiteman is the right choice.
Application Checklist
1) Print out the downloadable LWS Application. If you'd like one sent to you, please contact the Admissions Office.
2) Decide between the Ski/Ride or Foreign Travel programs. Please note that the Ski/Ride program, which is run in conjunction with the world-renowned Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, is for winter athletes with competitive experience. If you are expecting to be in the Ski/Ride program, we will fit a visit to the SSWSC into your schedule. See FAQ’s for more information.
3) Provide the required recommendations, requested by you and sent directly to the Lowell Whiteman School, address below. The recommendation forms are available in the application packet.
4) Have a complete transcript, including standardized test scores, sent of the current and previous academic years with as much information as is available.
5) Call for a campus tour and interview, please call 970-879-1350, x15 or email us at admissions@lws.edu. We strongly encourage all applicants to visit the school. We want to meet you and would like you to see us in living color. Words cannot describe 50 years of academic and experiential education. Typically, the interview is completed during a campus visit, and prospective students have an opportunity to visit classes. If circumstances preclude an in-person interview, the Admissions Office will make other arrangements.
6) Submit an Application fee of $50, payable to Lowell Whiteman School, with your application.

Students participating in the Foreign Travel program have an additional $3,600 obligation, while student-winter athletes paricipating with the SSWSC pay the club's fees. A 10% deposit ensures a student's enrollment, and then the rest of the tuition is payable all at once in July, or in plans of 2 to 3 installments, with a 2.5% administrative fee. The Foreign Travel tuition must be collected by November 1.
Testing The Lowell Whiteman School requires some form of standardized testing as part of the application. We recommend the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT), though we will accept other standardized test scores, so long as they have been taken within the last year.
Financial Aid Applicants for need-based financial aid are encouraged to complete the Parent Financial Statement (PFS) by February 15 or as early as possible. International Applicants Lowell Whiteman School alumni hail from countries in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. International students are encouraged to apply and take advantage of the opportunity to join a broadminded and welcoming community. International students typically comprise 5% to 8% of the student body. International students attend the same classes as the rest of the student body and must be, at minimum, highly functional and comfortable with spoken and written English. In addition to the normal application requirements listed above, international students for whom English is not their native language must demonstrate proficiency with either a SLEP or TOEFL score or a transcript from secondary school with English as the instructional language. We will generate an I-20 only AFTER an accepted student has officially enrolled and paid the tuition deposit.
