Campus Planning-
BUILDING ON THE EXPERIENCE
Pride Of Place
Many of you contributed to the planning process, by serving on committees, attending meetings, and participating in charettes orchestrated by architect Peter Ewers. Now, almost two years from the initiation of the process, we are pleased to announce a forward-looking, exciting, environmentally conscious comprehensive campus plan that looks well into the school’s future.
Throughout the planning process, our primary emphasis was to identify and imagine the educational, social, recreational and residential spaces and facilities that would enhance and enrich the Lowell Whiteman experience for all students, for many years to come. With this plan we are, indeed, helping to define today’s and tomorrow’s Lowell Whiteman Experience.
The Campus Plan was presented to the the Routt County Planning Board on Thursday, January 10th. The Board unanimously approved the school’s conceptual plan. Please click here to view the site plan

Important Information From the College Counseling Office-
Parents of Sophomores - During the Winter Parents’ Weekend, Lynne and Meg will hold an important meeting for all sophomore parents. Students will not need to attend this meeting. The meeting is on Saturday morning, February 23rd from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the Krautkramer Theatre. Parents will be introduced to the college process with emphasis on standardized testing and creating a college list.
Parents of Juniors – During the Winter Parents’ Weekend, Lynne and Meg will hold an important meeting for all juniors and their parents. The meeting is on Saturday morning, February 23rd from 9:40 a.m. to 10:40 a.m.in the Krautkramer Theatre. At that time, they will introduce both students and parents to Naviance, the LWS web-based college counseling site. There will be time to talk about the college process, including standardized testing, financial aid, and creating a good college list. At LWS, we recommend that all juniors take the SAT and the ACT once in their Junior year. For foreign travelers, we recommend the March 1st SAT, and for the competitive skiers and snowboarders, we recommend the May 3rd SAT. For all juniors, we recommend the June 14th ACT (which is the Saturday after graduation). The easiest way to register for the tests is on-line at www.collegeboard.com and www.actstudent.org. The registration deadline for the March 1st SAT is January 29th; the deadline for the May 3rd SAT is April 1st; and the deadline for the June 14th ACT is May 9th. For all other standardized testing information, please see the websites or the LWS College Workbook that is available at www.lws.edu.

Susan,
We would be happy to host your 7th grader. I think rising 8th grade students as well as high school students will be able learn a great deal about the school during class visits. I can be reached at the above phone number or at olsonj@lws.edu to register and answer any questions you may have.
Thank you,
Jared Olson
